Ground / Water Source Heat Pumps

A ground source heat pump extracts heat out of the ground or better still a river, stream or lake.

The low grade heat collected is increased to a usable temperature by the heat pump. The heat is then passed to the central heating and hot water systems. Ground source heat pumps tend to have a higher efficiency than air source heat pumps and are very quiet in operation.

Ideally, the installation needs a body of water or a large are in which we bury the heat collector pipe – typically in a small field rather than a garden lawn. However, it is also possible to collect heat from a smaller surface area using vertical bore holes.

Ground source heat pumps are suitable for a variety of building types from a single dwelling, eligible for the domestic RHI to commercial and multiple dwelling properties where a generous 20-year Non-domestic Renewable Heat Incentive is available.

These systems can be used as part of a new build development or retrofitted to existing properties. All groundworks are managed by us and undertaken by specialist contractors.

Installation time can be in the region of 2-5 weeks depending upon the scale of the system.
